JANESVILLE, Wis. – Robert J. “Bob” Heckman, 60, of Janesville, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 3, 2018, after a 6-year battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 1, 1958, in Freeport. He graduated in 1976 from from Lanark High School in 1976. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed at Vandenburg Air Force Base in California, where he learned power production. In 1987, he started work for CCI Systems where he was lead tech/coax splicer supervisor. There he met his lifelong friends, Greg and Lisa Anderson, and worked until his illness in 2013. Bob enjoyed bowling, gardening, growing his zinnias, and golfing with his friends, Shane Rose, Scott Wooden, and his sweetheart, Virginia Gonzales.

Bob is survived by his fiancée and longtime love, Virginia Gonzales; children, Mike, Steve, Andy, Billy, and Caroline Heckman; parents, John and Donna Heckman; brothers, Denny (Kathy Lewis) Heckman, Larry (Robin) Heckman; sisters, Kathy (Kirt) Gruhn, Cindy (Mike Leonard) Wagner; and nieces and nephews, Janica, Branden, Jarren, Baily, Kara, Kyle, Kelsey, Carissa, Jakob, and Cole.
The memorial service was Feb. 10 at Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville.
