NARFE recognizes 30-year members, elects new officers

SAVANNA – Thirty-year members were recognized at the Nov. 20 meeting of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Palisades Chapter 604, held at Manny’s in Savanna.
Linda Bass, Illinois Federation vice-president, presented the “Distinguished Member” certificate and pin to the members in attendance. Qualifying members were Arlin E. Buck, Hanover; William R. Corbett, Savanna; Lavoy A. Douvilas, Hanover; Mildred V. Eastman, Hanover; Alvin J. Ehrich, Mesa, Arizona; John L. Frutig, Elizabeth; James Griffiths, Hanover; Miles H. Kahl, Durand; Gene E. Marken, Thomson; Helen H. McCormick, Moline; Joyce E. Morgan, Mount Carroll; Gerald B. Swett, Hanover; Mernice H. Yenney, Mount Carroll; and Pauline Zigler, Hanover.
New officers were also sworn in for the 2015-2016 term by Bass. The new officers are President and Legislation officer Erik Torrison of Savanna; Vice President Linda Bass of Rock Island; Marshall Schubert of Stockton, first vice president and membership officer; Kay Berlage of Elizabeth, secretary; and Gayle Zajicek of Thomson, treasurer.
NARFE Palisades Chapter 604 will meet at noon Thursday at Manny’s in Savanna for a luncheon and short meeting. Those not on the permanent list are asked to call 815-273-2184 to make a reservation.
